Travel Diary: GREECE pt 2 Follow me to Santorini

February 28, 2017

Hello Everyone,
Long time no chat, I have been super sick for that past couple of weeks and finally feeling better!
I thought we can take a little detour from Skincare Tuesday and do a little Travel Tuesday only because I noticed  I never put up my guide to Santorini. So here it is.

If you missed my Greece part 1 read it HERE

We went to Greece in October, so to catch the ferry in the fall from Athens to Santorini you must wake up at 4 am to catch 7am ferry. the ferry is the high speed one and because of the time of year we went and how crazy the waves got; I got very sea sick. That is was the worst part of the trip. Next time I definitely will take a flight out, as  it is only 45 minutes.

After 5 hrs, FINALLY arrived to Santorini.

We stayed at the Canavas Hotel in Oia. Oia is the Santorini city that you see in all the pictures on Pinterest. It is absolutely breathtaking. It is very romantic and all around stunning. Fira is the capital and another major city in Santorini and it’s definitely busier with more shopping and food choices.

It takes about 50 mins to get from one end of the island to the other end. Of course I heard that and planned every detail of my trip, including a day trip to Mykonos!HA! wishful thinking! The moment I got there I realized there was no way I was going to see all of this island in 2 days. I needed that third day.

{Day 1}

So by the time we got to Santorini it was around 5pm, I needed to hurry up, get ready and catch that famous Santorini sunset. You guys the sunset is such a big deal in Santorini people start to find a place to catch it.

We walked around and visited all the little shops around Oia. Let me tell y’all something, the stairs in Oia are no joke. I thought I was prepared… ummm… NOPE not prepared at all. There are so many stairs, so bring flats!

Dinner was at Ammoudi Fish Tavern. Unfortunately, they were booked until 8pm so it was already dark when we got there. However, I found pictures online to show you guys how beautiful this place is.

{Day 2}

We started out the day wanting to rent quads to go around the island but because we went in October it was too windy and we were advised against the quads. So we took a private tour everywhere which is amazing for 1 reason- you have someone to take your picture everywhere!! LOL

This was our view from our room where we had breakfast on the patio- Incredible!

We went to a winery- This winery was really fun  because it have an underground museum that resembled “Stars Hollow Historical Museum  from Gilmore Girls (season 5 episode 18) I loved it. After the museum, we of course did a wine tasting.

Perissa Beach- aka black sand beach was so beautiful and lots of fun. You can rent chairs and eat and drink on the beach. The water was incredible!!!

The water was on a different level cold -hence the awkward stance LOL Top: Zara (Similar) Skirt:Zara: (Similar)

Kamari Beach-  is also a beach you need you need to see. The town around is so much fun and there’s so much shopping  and food around.

Fira- Fira is the capital of Santorini and basically the hub where everything happens. There is so much food and shopping to be done.

Lunch was at Pitogyros

The most amazing street gyros one will ever have! My mouth still waters when I remember it.

Dinner was at Metaximas (which was a recommendation from a local)

This restaurant was super authentic greek home cooking. It was amazing.

{Day Three}

Profitis Ilias-this is the highest point of the Island and gives you an incredible view from up top.

Red Sand Beach- Beautiful beach with this gorgeous rusty red mountain in the background. It is a bit of a climb to get to this spot but its worth it.

The excavations at Akritori

The excavations are something I didn’t think I would really be interested in. But it was so amazing. This Prehistoric town from 1627 BC!!!! that was covered in lava and completely preserved.

Sunset Cruise

My husband surprised me with this sunset tour and let me tell you it was absolutely MAGICAL! The food was great. The water was incredible!!!

THE ONLY GOOD PICTURE I GOT OF THIS DRESS BECAUSE IT WAS CRAZY WINDY- DRESS — NBD FROM REVOLVE

When we came back from the cruise we were so tired, so we got Yogi Gyros delivery to our hotel room and caught up on sleep for our early trip back to Athens in the morning.

More pictures from around Santorini

My husband made friends with our tour guides and taxi drivers so they bought us treats everyday =)

There was a lot of  restaurants I had in mind but didn’t the have time to try:

Lotza
Sunsets Cafe
Ambrosia
and Red Bicycle

Seriously you guys Santorini was incredible! Like THE most amazing place ever! Everyday I was there I would look out at the view and couldn’t believe I was actually there. It’s stunning and so magical. I think if I could do anything different it would be to go in September instead of October because of the wind. The wind on this Island is no joke. But beyond that it was a perfect trip. I cannot wait to go back one day.
