DIY Face Massage

September 27, 2016

Let’s talk facial massages. Facial massages are such a good DIY pampering treatment to do on yourself once or twice a week.

Facial massages are very beneficial to your skin and they can help rejuvenate the skin to make it glow by increasing oxygen flow and gives your skin nutrients. Massages  stimulate  and promote blood flow to the face to give it a healthy refreshed look. Massages using certain techniques can help increase muscle tone, strength and tighten muscles. They also help with producing collagen, preventing/smoothing wrinkles, and helping with puffiness, and sinus congestion.  It may also help with preventing acne, fading scars and dark spots.

There are very many ways massage your face. These are just my little techniques with is a combo of  different facial massage moves.  The massage can take anywhere from a couple minutes to 15 minutes depending on how much time you have. I love to do this in the morning to help energize and stimulate my skin.

To start massage of course, you will need clean hands, and a cleanser, cleansing oil, or a oil serum. My favorites are Dermalogica’s PreCleanse Oil, Sunday Riley Luna Oil, Josie Maran Argan Oil, and Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Overnight Detox Oil.

How to:

  1. Warm up product on fingertips and spread product on skin
  2. Warm up : Tap fingers lightly on the skin
  3. Upward strokes with whole hand (starting with chin to forehead)              design-21
  4. With medium pressure circles up and outwards (rotate between small circles and bigger circles.)
  5. Tiny circular motions with firmer pressure around sinus points (diagram below of sinus points)
  6. Now to start a little lymphatic drainage: downward strokes from chin down to neck
  7. Press knuckles or fingertips gently into chin and jaw line
  8. With zig zag motions vertically  smooth out forehead
  9. With zigzag motions horizontally smooth out forehead.
  10. Pinch eyebrows
  11. Then apply pressure with fingertips to tension points – between brows, temples, under cheeks, sides of jaw.
  12. To finish tap and clap face very gently.
  13. The apply a warm wet towel with lavender to your face for about 10 secs and Voila! Reveal your glowy refreshed skin.

This is just the way I like to do my facial massage. You can also check out these super helpful videos HERE and HERE.

As always with any massage, make sure to always drink a lot of water.
