I’m Skincare Tuesday: Love me some Aloe Vera

January 10, 2017

Hey my loves,

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The Golden Globes were on Sunday and some of the celebrities really brought their A game in terms of dresses. My favorites were Blake Lively, Lily Collins, and Emma Stone.

Now on to skincare. I am sure most of you have heard about how good Aloe Vera is for your skin. I know I have. However I don’t think I realized how truly amazing and beneficial it is until I took a couple of months to test out some Aloe Vera plant skin recipes. Wow! This stuff is the real deal, no wonder it is found in so many skin care products in store.

-What is it-
Aloe Vera is a plant, that has been valued by many ancient civilizations. “Chinese and Egyptians used aloe vera to treat burns, wounds, and reduce fever. Legend reports that Alexander the Great, upon the advice of Aristotle, conquered the island of Socotra, off the coast of Africa, to secure supplies of aloe vera in order to treat wounded soldiers. Cleopatra used aloe in her daily skin treatments. In 1944, the Japanese who were exposed to the “A” bomb applied aloe gel to their wounds and reported faster healing and less scaring” (lilyofthedesert.com)

-Benefits-

Skin- Aloe Vera is amazing for skin, because of its anti-inflammatory properties it is great for fighting acne. It is great for moisturizing skin and keeping skin firm. Because of it’s  richness in vitamins C and E and beta carotene, Aloe has many anti-ageing qualities. Its beneficial for healing wounds and burns. It also helps with lightning from scars especially those pesky hyper-pigmentiation scars. <— UGHH hate those!!

Hair- Aloe Vera is also very beneficial for healthy hair. Aloe Vera helps with dandruff, dry scalp, helps with hair growth. It restores hair follicle and helps soften and restore hair’s shine and vitality.

-How to use-

Skin- Honestly I just cut a piece of the plant and apply directly to my skin. I leave it on all day or over night then I wash in the morning. Aloe is extremely gentle, so you can definitely keep it on you skin all night without worrying.

Hair- I cut out the aloe gel and I blend it up in a blender and apply to my hair and scalp. I have a very dry scalp, and aloe gel has completely moisturized my scalp without leaving a greasy residue like most shampoos and moisturizing treatments.

You guys, I’m serious, Aloe Vera is probably one of the best skin care tips I can give anyone and it’s crazy inexpensive. WIN- WIN!!! I have been using Aloe for about 2 months or so and it has done wonders for my skin in terms of hydration and lightening dark spots.

Have you guys tried Aloe Vera? What do you think?
Let me know in the comments!

Stay beautiful my friends,
